My thoughts in a nutshell:
When would the Phoenix rise,
and fly the new skies?
Must humanity first burn
for life to return?
The flames engulf the globe,
Yet I live in hope.
Let barbarity wear out
before peace shall sprout.
If we look at the history of mankind, the cycle has repeatedly shifted from Yin to Yang. In other words, we have travelled from storm to calm and been thrown back into the storm, so on and so forth.
Politically, it can be described as the ‘New World Order’ every time.
Let’s be realistic, the life of each cycle of such order is mortal. When the World was not widely explored and was thus divided by opaque walls, with no or only partial view of mankind living on the other side, the cycle of Yin and Yang civilisations was much longer than the contemporary interlinked times of ‘civilisation’. For example, the Egyptian civilisation, which existed for 3100 years approximately as a unified entity before it was conquered by Greek civilisation that ruled for the next 2,400-2,500 years, before Rome took over for yet another 1,500 years. So on and so forth. And after the end of every imperfect social model, people were told that they had entered a better world order.
Each of these civilisations influenced other parts of the wider World around, mostly for the wrong reasons but some good ones too.
Now, the question is- ‘Has the World changed much since ancient or medieval times, apart from fashion, technology, and political titles of the Governments? I think not.
‘ Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.’ So true. As a collective human society, we have been busy ‘conquering’ and weakening the other, but have not been interested to learn from each other’s strengths to build a collective greater human society.
I wouldn’t say that all is lost, and we have developed the theory of ‘democracy’ and the concept of ‘global village’. However, this theory has remained a glorified text in the school books to be manipulated by cunning politicians. In the meantime, we have been losing a golden opportunity of getting off the hamster wheel of wasting our energy in conquering one another temporarily before being conquered by yet another.
Why am I still hopeful then? Because I am still feeling optimistic about a peaceful earth and writing about it, with the readers taking a moment of their precious time to read my thoughts, especially the ones who would ‘like’ the article, join the hopeful list 😊 Till we exist, the hope must exist too.
Unless we all become a consolidated humanity in peace, the Phoenix shall burn but also rise from the ashes again and again.
If nothing else, we must not cease to add our voice to the greater shout for harmony and cooperation. Hope is not yet lost. Amen.
