Spills from life: Would a change of number in a year alter events in life?

My husband asked me about my resolution for this year and I hesitated to answer. Do you know why? Because I thought to myself, ‘ resolution is just words unless I’d add action to it’. We all can relate to a question that our parents, uncles, aunties, and almost all adults might have asked when we were children, ‘What do you want to become when you grow up?’ I remember it created so much confusion in my little mind instantly because there were so many buzz words that my parents and teachers had injected into my brain- ‘Doctor’, ‘Engineer’, ‘Pilot’ and ‘Accountant’…I think my memory couldn’t go past these few of the most important occupations in society. But in reality, I became a teacher in school, then a trainer for adults in known Airline, then a Manager in the same company, Semi-professional dancer and Choreographer till university days, Editor of a Youth Magazine, a Blogger, an Author, a Wife, and a Mother …… I became all but what I was told by my adults. I am glad I became all I wanted to be instead of what I was told to. This is also very important for maintaining a positive mindset.
Now before a question scratches someone’s brain to ask me, ‘What if I had failed at everything I could become? Would I then regret why I didn’t try harder to become what Mummy or Daddy or teacher insisted ?’  My answer to that would be, ‘If I failed in what I wanted to be, it would be for two reasons only- either I was barking up the wrong tree or didn’t try hard enough.’ That settled, now I would say that instead of making a New Year Resolution, make a lifetime resolution of doing what you could and then invest all your energy and effort into achieving your own best self. This might not be suitable to others’ expectations of you but your mirror would show you dignity and self-pride each and every time you look at yourself. Show the World what ‘you’ could do! If they don’t like it, they could foxtrot oscar! This is real confidence ( not over-confidence, which is like thinking of walking on water….and we all know what would happen if we attempted that!!!!)
We all very well know about yo-yo dieting experiences, especially between post- Christmas and post-summer vacation times, or pledging by swearing at every near and dear one’s life not to drink another drop after the head-spinning hangover. Hand on heart- How many succeed in keeping their promise to themselves? So, instead of short-term impulsive goals, try to choose long-term achievable targets. Focus and go for it like a rottweiler after the bone.
So far we discussed being true to yourself, knowing your own potential, working diligently, focusing, building confidence, develop a positive mindset. Voila! We’ve grown the ability to manifest all our dreams. This is my Resolution for every year of my remaining life. Be MY best and settle for nothing less. What about you? Happy 2022 to all my fellow bloggers and readers.

  1. I never made resolutions as I am weak willed and knew that they would never last… this year though I vowed to connect more to my higher being, as I too wish to be a better human in this madness, I know I won’t succeed every day but I am ok with that, as less judgement is better… here’s to a happy, healthy and vibrant 2022!
