5 strains of virus called the Prejudice: we all must unite to find the antidote

It’s not just the Corona that’s has caused a pandemic. We have been deliberately blind to another virus that has been affecting the human species for centuries and while we have been suffering with the plague, we have made only a half hearted attempt at any effort to find the antidot for the chronic disease called, ‘ The Prejudice’.
So, what exactly is prejudice? Dictionary claims that it is a preconceived opinion without any reason or experience. I would go a bit further to this text book definition by digging deeper in to the concept of ‘preconceived’ or time before one is born. Not making it a chicken or egg story, let me start from a man and a woman infected with the genes of prejudice before they transmit it to another human mind. From my view on this topic, I believe that there are five potential strains of a deadly virus which is hidden yet blatant in our lives, called the Prejudice and I’ll explain them as follows:
1.Every woman feels at varied thresh-holds, anxious while carrying a baby- worry about her own health, her baby’s welfare, social and economical stresses, etc. This transmits in different amounts in to the baby’s system. In this case, the bacteria of Fear carry a strain of Prejudice and as a sufferer of fear the woman become possessive and her over defence mechanism kicks in as antibodies to fight this infection of fear. The life born out of fear could be a man and he is born with this defective gene which he would pass on to someone else as was the case with his mother and so on. With time, we grow to believe fanatically  that self- defence means building encompassing walls and the more impenetrable the brick is, the more secure our being is as learnt from our preconceived opinion. You doubt everyone who doesn’t have high gates like yours; they become different and hence, your potential enemies or so you fear. Thus, fear begets intolerance as an amalgamation of preconceived insecurities. This bacterium strain is called the Prejudice of Intolerance born out of fear.
The only antidot can be replacing the fear with hope and belief. Realise happiness in your own life and multiply it by sharing it with others. When you have no enemies, you don’t need tall walls. Spread friendship not disease.
2.
The thought of losing something prompts automatically to accumulate more than we need. Once we have hoarded enough it becomes a habit and a mindset. The action that is conceived by such a mindset is to thieve and rob from others without any conscious awareness about the wrongful deed. At this stage we allow ourselves to become godless creatures. The bigger the hoarder the more influence amongst fellow humans and it gives privilege to construct a society as means to our own selfish goal of filling an abyss  with stone, metal, mortar, paper and many other waste products polluting our mindset. This strain of virus develops in to Greed. Thus, greed begets selfishness and Power over other fellow beings. This bacteria strain is called the Prejudice of Power born out of greed.
The only antidot is collaborated love for humanity in its entirety. Restore power over your own weaknesses like avarice and selfishness. Consume only what is required and healthy- Your cup will overflow with contentment. Don’t give up without trying it.
3.
Mental power over others is mightier than physical strength and it is addictive. Once intoxicated with power, we do not desire to abdicate the control over others. The more others look above at you the more you love the view looking down. The severity of the symptoms of power manifest cruelty. The bigger the stick of brutality the more addictive it is, just like in case of an alcoholic – the more one drinks the more one craves for. Only a human can become addictive to a disease- bravo! What a progress! Callousness resides inside a cold heart and cold heart is a dead heart. Cruelty is a symptom of death- this is the critical stage of illness. This mutation strain is called the Prejudice of Cruelty born out of false sense of power.
The antidot for this is a high intravenous dosage of mercy and humility. Try to give- start with small quantity and progress; extinguish anger with a smile; remove a stone from someone else’s path; help selflessly and let your good being inside take over and you’ll crave for more .
4.
Once we feel we have conquered the ones in front of us, we shift our attention elsewhere. This is when the infection transmits beyond the borders and demarcations. Rotating the sword also attract like mindedness around. Now we form allies with all those who admire their reflection in the same fake mirror as us. So, social distancing is the only sanctuary. However, this comes at the cost of dividing the human society, where we all are quarantined in own groups of similarity with perpetual fear and intolerance of the outsider groups. This virus strain is called the Prejudice of Race and is fatal if not treated in a timely way.
The only antidot is daily potion of love for all. A garden fully flourishes when it blooms with rainbow of flowers and yet the diverse beauty offers the same enjoyable experience to everyone.

.It’s often said that we humans are born competitive- In reality this too is deeply rooted in our preconceived fears. In this case, it’s the fear of being beaten by someone else. To me, the leader in a social race connotates symptoms of someone most needing to get away from others who are following to vanquish his/her life. Each of the above human groups are competing with one another out of fear and to secure themselves with whatever power available. We have seen this world been ravished by such life threatening competitions from when we started recording history of mankind. This is the deadliest strain of the plague called the Prejudice of war born out of competition to win.
The only antidot and cure for this disease is peace and gratitude. Peace originates from within and not by infesting fear in others. Hold the one on the ground by shoulders and assist him to stand up so you can see the same humanity in each other’s eyes and not put a knee on a fellow human being to stifle life that is created by God in his own image.

  1. How insightful of you to remind us that prejudice is worse than any virus-related pandemic. It’s ongoing and deep-seated, and very hard to control or eradicate. Thank you for sharing your thoughts in this post.
And thank you very much for following Oh, the Places We See. It’s a travel blog, but we’re not doing a lot of traveling right now. So, here’s hoping you enjoy some of our previous jaunts. Stay safe.
